On the second day of the full-scale invasion, Mykola Myshko was killed while containing the occupiers on the outskirts of Chernihiv.
He was born on 2 May 1979. He was fond of football and was an active participant in the sporting life of his Vysochanske community in Chernihiv region. Mykola played for the local football team “Kolos” and also voluntarily worked as a physical education and sports instructor in his village.
Since 2014 Mykola had been defending Ukraine, when the Russian invaders first set foot on our land, and he died when they launched a full-scale offensive. In February 2022, the invaders attacked Chernihiv and mercilessly shelled it. In the fight with Russian troops on the second day of the full-scale invasion on 25 February 2022 near Chernihiv, 42-year-old Mykola Myshko, unfortunately, was killed…
On 10 March, he was buried in the village of Vysoke.
To honour the memory of the Hero, his home folks founded a football tournament – the Mykola Myshko Cup. On 12 May 2024, the village of Vysoke hosted the tournament for the second time, with 3 teams participating.
