On November 9, 2024, in the village of Slobozhanske, Dnipropetrovsk region, the community bid farewell to an exceptional person, a remarkable judoka, and a devoted defender of Ukraine, Yevhenii Korohod. This hero gave his life protecting his homeland from Russian occupiers.
Yevhenii was a member of the veteran team of the sports club “Taifu Judo.” A man of immense spiritual strength and noble heart, he began training as an adult. Through determination and tireless effort, he achieved significant success in judo. Under the guidance of coaches Vitalii Kharlamov and Artem Pliev, he won a bronze medal at the 2013 Ukrainian Veterans Championship in the -73 kg category.
Since 2014, Yevhenii stood as a defender of our land against Russian aggression. His courage and resilience were rightfully recognized in 2022 when he was awarded the state medal “For the Defense of Ukraine” by the President of Ukraine.
He is remembered as a sincere individual, a loyal friend, and a steadfast comrade, always ready to support and help. At the “Taifu Judo” club, he was cherished for his kindness and inner strength, qualities he carried both on the tatami and on the battlefield.
Eternal glory to the Hero who stood to defend his homeland and paid the ultimate price, giving his life. His name will forever remain in our hearts.
