Daniel Yegorov

While defending his homeland from Russian occupiers, Ukrainian athlete and rower Daniel Yegorov lost his life in Donetsk.

A member of the Ukrainian national rowing team from 2016 to 2024, Daniel, without hesitation, interrupted his athletic career from the first days of the full-scale Russian invasion to stand guard over his country. A hero, he served in the renowned “Azov” regiment and fought in the most difficult sectors of the front. He was awarded the prestigious Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine medals, the “Golden Cross” and “For Saving Lives.”

Daniel Yegorov was born on February 16, 2000, in the village of Matviivka, Vilnyansk district, Zaporizhzhia region. He began practicing his beloved sport of rowing in his native land and later represented Mykolaiv region in various competitions. He studied at the Mykolaiv College of Physical Education and the Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding.

The athlete boasted a wealth of victorious experience. Daniel became the bronze medalist at the 2017 European Junior Championships and earned a silver medal at the 2019 European Under-23 Championships. His “adult” sports career was just beginning to take off… But when the great war came to Ukraine, Daniel could not stand aside, dedicating his strength, skill, and ultimately his life to the defense of his homeland…

Daniel Yegorov fell in battle for Ukraine on October 28, 2024, near the village of New York, Bakhmut district, Donetsk region. He was only 24 years old…
