Olexandr Khomenchuk

Born on June 25, 1972, in the town of Tetiiv, Kyiv Oblast. His childhood, school years, and youth were spent in the village of Dmytrivka, located in the Kyiv-Sviatoshyn (now Bucha) district of Kyiv Oblast.

Olexandr can undoubtedly be called a football legend, not only of his native village but of the entire Kyiv-Sviatoshyn district. He began playing football in his hometown. In his youth, Olexandr was a versatile athlete and could have succeeded in various sports, excelling in volleyball and achieving strong results in athletics. Olexandr Khomenchuk is remembered as a powerful and dedicated central midfielder for FC “Dmytrivka,” where he played for over 15 seasons in the Kyiv-Sviatoshyn district championship from 1999 to 2016. He is part of the elite players of the Kyiv-Sviatoshyn League, having played over 300 matches at the district level. With his hometown team, Olexandr won numerous district championships and podium finishes, and after his playing career, he joined the local veterans’ team and even tried his hand as a coach for his home club.

He died on July 24, 2022, while performing a military mission as part of the Ukrainian Armed Forces during the battles for the city of Sloviansk. The Hero was laid to rest in his native village of Dmytrivka on July 29, 2022.
