Serhiy Shestak

In the battles near Volnovakha in the Donetsk region, Serhiy Shestak, a serviceman of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, was killed. He was also one of the leaders of the “Cherkaski Kozaky” football team.

Serhiy was born in the village of Novyi Shlyakh in the Kozelets district of the Chernihiv region. He was one of the best football players in the local district championship, playing for the teams “Chayka” (Novyi Shlyakh) and “Yednist” (Chemery). As a forward, he scored many goals and repeatedly received individual awards for Best Player and Top Scorer.

He participated in regional football competitions and was a member of the Kozelets district team, becoming both a district champion and cup holder. He won the Ukrainian championship twice among ATO participants and claimed both the ATO Cup and Super Cup.

Serhiy is survived by his wife and young daughter. He is buried in Cherkasy. He was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage, Third Class.
