Andrii Mazanovych

Another irreparable loss—Ukraine has lost a defender. Junior Sergeant, commander of the second squad of the second rifle company, and master of sports in powerlifting, Andrii Mazanovych, has fallen in battle.

Born in 1987, he was a true leader, driven by strength and an unwavering will to win—both in sports and in life. A master of sports in powerlifting, a champion of Ukraine and Europe, Andrii was deeply connected to his hometown of Vyshnivets in the Ternopil region, where he was admired and respected. He was a master of his craft, securing multiple championship titles and dreaming of developing his beloved sport, passing on his knowledge to the younger generation, and nurturing future champions. He always supported his students, inspired them by his own example, and proved that relentless effort leads to victory.

With the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Andrii did not hesitate to take up arms in defense of Ukraine. He volunteered for the front lines to protect his homeland. Alongside his comrades, including fellow residents of the Vyshnivets community, he carried out combat missions on the front.

On July 20, 2024, a funeral procession carrying the warrior’s body passed through the Vyshnivets community. A farewell ceremony was held at Maidan Voli, after which Andrii was laid to rest at the cemetery in the city of Kremenets.

The bright memory of Andrii Mazanovych will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, comrades, and all who had the honor of knowing this remarkable man. He will forever remain a symbol of strength, honor, and the indomitable spirit of the Ukrainian people.

Heroes do not die. Eternal glory to the Hero!
