On July 11, 2025, Yurii Yehorov, a reconnaissance scout with the legendary Azov Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, was killed in action while defending his country. He was just over twenty. His life was cut short in its prime — both in sport and on the battlefield.
Yurii was born in 2004 in the village of Ryzhany, Zhytomyr region. After graduating from the local school, he enrolled at the Polissia Agro-University in Zhytomyr. But his true calling was sport.
As a member of the Zhytomyr regional boxing team, he repeatedly proved that real strength lies in resilience, character, and dignity. He trained under Vitalii Melnyk and competed for the Stealth Boxing Club. Coaches, teammates, and opponents alike noted his fierce determination and iron will.
When the enemy invaded his homeland, Yurii did not hesitate. He volunteered to defend Ukraine and joined the Azov Brigade’s reconnaissance unit. His heart stopped beating in combat.
The Boxing Federation of Ukraine extended its sincere condolences to his family, fellow soldiers, and the entire sports community of Zhytomyr. Ukraine has lost a young, promising athlete and an unbreakable warrior.
Blessed be the memory of Yurii Yehorov. Eternal glory to the Hero.
