Mykhailo Myskiv

Warrior and athlete Mykhailo Myskiv was born on September 2, 1987, in the village of Ripniv, Busk district, Lviv region. His childhood was not an easy one — at the age of four, he became an orphan. Relatives from Ivano-Frankivsk took the boy into their care. There he finished School No. 10 and later studied at a boarding school, where he discovered his first great passion — football. Even then, he played for the youth teams of the local sports school, impressing his coaches with determination and leadership.

In 2005, Mykhailo met Iryna — the love of his life. Together they built a family and raised two children. He worked hard, sometimes abroad, but always returned home — to the village of Viktoriv, where he became the soul of local football.

It was Mykhailo who, in 2007, stood at the origins of the revival of the football club FC Lukvytsia, remaining its heart and driving force until 2021. He didn’t just play — he lived football. Captain, mentor, motivator — under his leadership, the team achieved many victories: the championship of the Halych district in 2016, two district silver medals (2015, 2017), two cup finals, and twice became the champion of the second league. The brightest season was 2016, when Lukvytsia created a true football miracle — winning sixteen matches in a row, a record still unbeaten to this day.

When the enemy invaded Ukraine, Mykhailo made a conscious choice: he first joined the Territorial Defense Forces and later became part of the 419th Separate Rifle Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a squad commander and grenadier, and, as always, he was an example to others. He cared more for his comrades than for himself.

On July 6, 2023, during fierce fighting near Klishchiivka in the Bakhmut direction, Mykhailo was gravely wounded. Doctors fought for his life for eleven days — but on July 17, his heart stopped beating.

Mykhailo Myskiv left behind a bright and enduring memory — of a devoted warrior, a courageous captain, a kind friend, a loving husband, and a father.

For his bravery and devotion to Ukraine, he was posthumously awarded the medals of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Council and Regional State Administration “For Merits to Prykarpattia”, the distinction of the Mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk “For Honor and Valor”, and the medal “Knight of the Combat Order.”
