A warrior and an athlete, a machine gunner of the elite troops of the legendary 46th Air Assault Brigade. Elvin Novruzov was killed in combat in the Donetsk region at the end of 2022.
Elvin spent most of his life in Kalush. From the age of six, he trained in gymnastics at the “Yunist” Palace of Culture — it was sport that instilled in him strength, discipline, and perseverance. He became a multiple regional champion in artistic gymnastics and held the title of First-Class Athlete.
After finishing school, in 2006, Elvin entered the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas, where he earned his specialist degree. He worked, got married, and dreamed of the future.
After several years of working abroad, Elvin returned to Ukraine and found a job in Kyiv — just a month before the full-scale invasion began. When the enemy attacked Ukraine and started shelling peaceful cities, his decision was clear: in March 2022, he went to the Kalush Territorial Recruitment Center to join the defenders of his country.
He underwent training at the Rivne training ground and later joined the 46th Air Assault Brigade. From the first day of service, Elvin Novruzov proved himself as a courageous warrior, a brave soldier, and a true patriot of his homeland. Together with his comrades, he took part in the liberation of settlements in the Kherson region. He was wounded but, after recovery, returned to the front line.
From December 10, 2022, Elvin carried out combat missions near Kurdiumivka, Ozarianivka, and Klishchiivka in the Bakhmut sector. He was last heard from on December 31. For nearly three months, his family held on to hope for a miracle. Only on March 26, 2023, during offensive actions by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, his body was found and identified. It was later revealed that on the last day of 2022, holding his machine gun, Elvin covered his comrades and fell in battle, fulfilling his duty to the very last breath.
Soldier Elvin Novruzov was laid to rest on the Alley of Glory at the Kalush City Cemetery on April 3, 2023.
Eternal memory and glory to the Hero — an example of courage and love for life.
