He gave his life for Ukraine. Maksym had been boxing since childhood. He became a Master of Sport of Ukraine, represented Odesa region at competitions, and after ending his athletic career, worked as a boxing coach.
A talented athlete and coach, he taught children not only boxing technique but also discipline, endurance, and respect. His students became medalists at Odesa regional championships and competed in national-level competitions.
In 2023, Maksym signed a contract with the National Guard of Ukraine. He served with the 15th Operational Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, “Kara-Dag,” and was the commander of the 3rd squad of strike unmanned aerial vehicle systems.
His combat path took him through the Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, and Kharkiv regions. For his courage and dedication, Maksym was awarded the “For the Defense of Ukraine” medal and the “Cross of the Brave” distinction.
“What will I tell the children after the war? What did I do? I would be ashamed to look them in the eye if I had hidden,” he said when explaining his decision to defend Ukraine.
On 30 April 2026, Maksym was killed while carrying out a combat mission near Husynka in the Kharkiv region. He was 29 years old.
Maksym Dmytryshyn will remain in the memory of his family, comrades-in-arms, and students as an athlete, coach, and soldier who fulfilled his duty to the very end.
