On April 6, 2022, Dmytro Sydoruk, silver medalist of the Invictus Games, coordinator of the Invincibles movement in Lviv Oblast, died fighting for Ukraine.
In 2014, Dmytro Sydoruk was one of the first to go to defend Ukraine. After being seriously injured, he spent 10 days in the intensive care unit near Luhansk airport. During these days, he endured 12 complex operations. He decided to restore his strength in sports – he returned to archery, which he practiced in his youth.
In 2016, Dmytro learned about Invictus Games – an international multidisciplinary competition for former and current servicemen who were wounded in the area of hostilities. The following year, he decided to test his strength, got into the national team and won a silver medal in archery competitions at the International Undefeated Games in Canada.
When the team returned home, Dmytro was elected as a coordinator of Invictus Games in Lviv region. He always tried to help all veterans who united around sports. He passed on his skills to children in training, highly valued teamwork and veteran sports environment.
A junior sergeant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a soldier of the 24th separate mechanized brigade died in battle in the Kherson region.
The Hero was buried on the Field of Mars near the Lychakiv Cemetery. His wife and son survived Sydoruk.
