After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, his hometown was occupied, and he made a decision to join the army. The Ukrainian coach Andrii Lyfar was killed in Donetsk region.
He was born in Lysychansk, one of the oldest citiesin Donbas. Here he grew up and built his sports career. Andrii Mykolayovych initiated the creation of a sports acrobatics department and an acrobatic track jumping department at the Lysychansk Children and Youth Sports School, where he worked as a coach for many years. He literally revived this sport in Luhansk region. He was a true fan of his work, and children loved him. Andrii`s students repeatedly became winners of national competitions. That was supposed to continue, but the war started.
When the full-scale invasion began, the coach joined the ranks of the territorial defense forces.In the army, he received the call sign “Acrobat”. For more than two and a half years, he and his comrades-in-arms destroyed the enemy and he twice led his soldiers out of the Russian army encirclement. Unfortunately, he was never to see the liberation of his native Lysychansk, which the invaders first mercilessly shelled and then occupied in the summer of 2022.
