Andrii Pedora

Volleyball player Andrii Pedora was killed in the war with the Russian occupiers.

He was born on September 22, 1989 in Chernihiv. He studied at the school № 13 and took up volleyball at the children’s and youth sports school of the Olympic reserve. His passion for sports later determined the direction of his higher education. Andrii entered Chernihiv State Pedagogical University, Faculty of Physical Education. During student years, he played for the “Burevisnyk-SVSM” team as a libero and was also a member of the U-20 Ukrainian national team. Over the years of hard training, Andrii has collected many awards: silver of the Major League Ukrainian Volleyball Championship, silver of the National Beach Volleyball Championship among youth, and repeatedly went up to the podium of the student league and regional tournaments. He also held the title of candidate for master of sports.

The full-scale Russian invasion forced many Ukrainians to take up arms. Among those who stood up to defend their country in the first days of the offensive was Andrii. He joined the ranks of the territorial defense forces. He defended his hometown and the border from the invaders, and also took part in battles in Donetsk region. He served as a grenade launcher of an infantry unit. Unfortunately, on June 4, 2024, 34-year-old Andrii Pedora was killed…
