Andrii Petrenko

In April 2023, while carrying out a combat mission in Luhansk Oblast, Andrii Petrenko from the town of Pokrovske, Dnipropetrovsk region, was killed in action. He served in the 81st Separate Airmobile Brigade of the Air Assault Forces.

Andrii was born on September 23, 1981, in Pokrovske. From an early age, he was deeply involved in football, achieving victories at regional, national, and international levels.

He played for professional teams, including “Titan-Zoria” from Pokrovske, as well as “Budivel” and “Finek” from Dnipro. He was the captain of a football team and a candidate for the title of Master of Sports in futsal. His achievements include winning the World Student Games in mini-football, becoming the Ukrainian university futsal champion with “Finek,” and securing silver in the Ukrainian University Futsal Championship with the same team. He also won the Ukrainian First League futsal championship with “Titan-Zoria” and reached the final four of the Ukrainian Futsal Cup.

Since July 2004, Andrii Petrenko worked at the Pokrovske Gas Service, balancing his professional career with his passion for sports.

On February 23, 2023, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He fell in battle on April 22, 2023, near the village of Bilohorivka in Luhansk Oblast.

He is survived by his wife and two young children.
