Denys Bereziuk

The war has claimed another Ukrainian Hero. Denys Bereziuk was a courageous warrior, a gifted athlete, and a devoted son of his homeland.

Born on October 31, 2000, Denys was passionate about sports from an early age. He trained with the Marhanets City Federation “Phoenix Karate-Do” and repeatedly won and placed in city, regional, and oblast-level championships. His strength of will, determination, and fighting spirit shaped him into a future defender of Ukraine.

From 2020 to 2021, Denys served his conscription in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. When Russia launched its full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, he did not hesitate for a moment—he stood to defend his country. As a junior sergeant and commander of the 3rd squad of the engineer reconnaissance platoon in the engineer-sapper company of the engineering support group, he carried out his duties with unwavering dedication, protecting his homeland.

In January 2024, during an intense battle near the village of Novoselivske, Svatove district, Luhansk region, Denys sustained a severe injury. He was urgently transported to the hospital, where doctors fought relentlessly to save his life. But tragically, on January 22, his heart stopped beating…

On January 27, 2024, family, friends, comrades, and grateful townspeople bid farewell to their Hero. He was laid to rest at the Central Cemetery in Marhanets.

Eternal memory and glory to Denys Bereziuk! We will never forget those who gave their lives for Ukraine.
