He searched for Angels. Denys Sosnenko, 21, was the youngest volunteer of the Sloviansk Humanitarian Mission “Black Tulip.” He helped search for and return missing Ukrainian defenders from the front line to their families. He was often thanked for being able to return those who had already been thought lost forever.
Denys was a member of the Donetsk regional Thai boxing team and was a multiple-time Ukrainian champion.
During his latest mission, Denys was killed. On January 24, 2023, while retrieving the bodies of Ukrainian soldiers from the battlefield in the village of Dolyna in the Kramatorsk district, he stepped on a mine.
Denys was buried on January 29 in Sloviansk, his coffin adorned with a white helmet and awards. People who came to pay their respects threw flowers under his vehicle.
