He was killed on March 7, 2022, while defending Volnovakha. A serviceman with the rank of lieutenant, he served in the rapid-response border command “Novotroїtske.” He was at the front line from the very first day of the full-scale invasion.
Near Volnovakha, his unit was guarding the approaches to the settlement when Russian forces attempted to break through the defense lines and simultaneously launch strikes from two directions. However, the border guards heroically stopped the advance and forced the aggressor to retreat. The Russians suffered losses and, under the cover of artillery fire, sent sabotage groups and armored vehicles into the area of the clash. Fedir died from a direct hit by a tank shell.
He studied at the National University of Physical Education and Sports. He was passionate about sports, competing in various disciplines within the border guard competitions. His sports career included crossfit competitions, and he performed with the Azov regiment, participating in the first regional championship in functional multi-sport among the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s units.
On July 3, 2021, Fedir finished the Race Nation competition. His last sporting event took place in early February 2022, in Mariupol, where he competed in swimming and rowing tournaments for the power structures of the Mariupol garrison.
