As a result of a devastating missile attack on Kharkiv on the night of March 7, young hockey player Hordii Udovychenko was killed. The Russian attack on residential neighborhoods also claimed the life of his mother, Olena Udovychenko, a primary school teacher at Lyceum No. 6.
After the start of the full-scale invasion, when Russian forces began relentlessly destroying Kharkiv, the family temporarily relocated to the Kyiv region, to Bila Tserkva. There, Hordii began playing hockey and became part of the Bilyi Bars team, competing in the 2017–2018 age group.
His home club, Bilyi Bars, remembers him: “Hordii was a sincere, kind, and open-hearted boy who deeply loved hockey, his team, and training. We remember his smile, his dedication on the ice, and the joy with which he came to every practice”.
As a result of yet another senseless Russian strike, Ukrainian sport has lost another young athlete — a member of its great family.
Eternal memory to little Hordii and his mother, whose lives were taken by a Russian terrorist attack.
