Igor Severenchuk

In the battle for Ukraine’s independence near the village of Pogrebky in the Kursk region on August 13, 2024, Igor Severenchuk, aged 31, was killed.

He was a graduate of the Specialized Children’s and Youth Olympic Reserve Football School “Karpaty” and later joined the reserve squad of the football club “Hoverla.” He lived in the village of Obroshino, Lviv District.

Born on December 17, 1993, Igor completed higher education at the Geodesy Institute of the National University “Lviv Polytechnic.” After finishing his studies, he engaged in private entrepreneurship.

Igor volunteered to defend Ukraine almost immediately after the full-scale invasion by Russian occupiers, enlisting in April 2022 in the 95th Independent Air Assault “Polissia” Brigade. He served as the chief sergeant of the assault platoon. He participated in battles for Dovhenke and Toretsk, liberating Izium and Lyman from the occupiers. Despite sustaining injuries, he returned to the front each time.

Throughout his military service, Igor Severenchuk received numerous awards, including the Order of Courage, Third Class, the honorary badge of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine “Golden Cross,” the award “Unbreakable Heroes of the Russo-Ukrainian War,” the “Cross of Honor,” the badge of the commander of the operational-tactical grouping “Lyman,” and the “For Military Valor” badge.

He was buried on September 17, 2024, at the Lychakiv Military Cemetery (Mars Field) in Lviv. He is survived by his wife, son, mother, father, and brother.
