Ihor Krysovaty, a native of Chernivtsi, was a candidate for master of sports in powerlifting. During his school years, he was also passionate about other sports: he served as the captain of the school volleyball team, which won the regional championship twice among boys, and played for the local football team.
On April 8, 2014, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as the Senior Sergeant and Squad Commander in the 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade.
He was killed in action on June 17, 2014, near Luhansk.
By the Decree of the President of Ukraine, dated August 2, 2014, “for personal courage and heroism shown in defense of the state’s sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” he was posthumously awarded the Order of “For Courage” III degree. The Chernivtsi City Council also posthumously awarded him the “For the Glory of Chernivtsi” medal.
