The war has claimed yet another true patriot, a devoted warrior, and a formidable athlete — champion of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast in track and field, Ihor Kuzmynskyi. He heroically lost his life while carrying out a combat mission on the Zaporizhzhia front.
On April 6, 2022, Ihor would have turned 38… But he did not live to see his birthday, falling just over two weeks short. On March 20, he sustained severe shrapnel wounds and was taken to a hospital in the village of Kamianske, Vasylivka Raion, Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Despite all efforts, his heart stopped there.
Ihor volunteered for the front lines of his own accord. On April 22, 2019, he signed a contract for military service and became a reconnaissance telephone operator, later serving as a gunner in the 9th Separate Motorized Infantry Battalion of the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade. A true warrior, he remained faithful to his military oath until his last breath.
On March 24, 2022, the entire community of Zhovti Vody in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast gathered to bid farewell to their fallen Hero. Family, comrades-in-arms, city officials, servicemen, representatives of local enterprises and organizations, clergy, and hundreds of citizens came to pay their respects. Ihor Kuzmynskyi was laid to rest in the Alley of Fallen Heroes at the city cemetery.
He is survived by his parents, Alla Yevhenivna and Oleksandr Maksymovych, his brother Dmytro, and his 13-year-old daughter, Diana.
To the people of Zhovti Vody, Ihor will forever remain a courageous and loyal comrade, a resolute and valiant soldier, a true patriot, and a devoted citizen of his country.
Eternal and bright memory to the Hero!
