Forever 57… A long-distance runner Ihor Osmak died in the war against the occupying forces.
He was born in Kyiv. He started doing sports since childhood, especially athletics. In 1990, he graduated from the National University of Physical Education and Sports of Ukraine, and in 8 years received the title of master of sports of the international class. Then he began a coaching career – for more than 10 years he had been working in the Kyiv Regional School of Higher Sports Mastery and in 2012 became an honored coach of Ukraine. Among his sportsmen-students is Tetyana Gamera-Shmyrko, a participant of the 2012 Olympic Games, who took 5th place in the women`s marathon in London.
On May 14 2023, on his page in social networks he announced he had completed military training in the Lviv region and was returning home, after which he would go to the front line. Unfortunately, in less than a month, in June Ihor Osmak died in the east of Ukraine.
