On January 14, 2023, Russian occupiers struck a missile at a residential building in Dnipro, killing Mykhailo Korenovsky, an honored coach of Ukraine in boxing.
The blast destroyed the entrance to the building where he lived. His wife, who had been out walking with their children, was told that Mykhailo had returned home after a competition, gathered his things, and was preparing to join them for the walk. There was hope he might still be alive, buried under the rubble. However, rescue workers recovered Mykhailo’s lifeless body.
Korenovsky was an honored coach of Ukraine in boxing and the senior coach of the Dnipropetrovsk region’s boxing team. His funeral took place at the sports hall of the Prydniprovsk State Academy of Physical Culture and Sports, where he worked as a lecturer.
