Defending his native land from Russian invaders, Nazariy Mohoruk was killed on the front line. A native of the village of Dzembronia in the Verkhovyna district of Ivano-Frankivsk region, he had loved sports since childhood. He was particularly passionate about kickboxing — in this martial art, Nazariy repeatedly became a prize-winner at various junior tournaments and earned the title of Candidate for Master of Sport.
In November 2020, Nazariy Mohoruk joined the National Guard of Ukraine as a conscript soldier. He served as a machine gunner in the 2nd platoon of the 15th Operational Brigade named after Hero of Ukraine Lieutenant Bohdan Zavada, military unit No. 3029 of the National Guard.
Nazariy was killed in action on May 12, 2022, during a battle near the city of Orikhiv in the Zaporizhzhia region. He was 21 years old.
In May 2023, a memorial plaque was unveiled on the facade of Verkhovyna Lyceum No. 1 to honor the Hero.
