American football player Oleksandr Anikin died near Lysychansk, Luhansk region.
He was only 19… Alexander played for the «Orly» team from the city of Zdolbuniv.
The club wrote:
«Sasha was a defender on the field. He knew well the basic rule of defense in American football – no yard, no inch back. Similarly, this rule, Oleksandr was guided by life and war – not an inch of our country to the invader… He was one of the first to accept an unequal battle with the horde in Luhansk region. He fought bravely and selflessly! He is the one who will make our children and women, our families, live in peace on our God-given land! He is the one who will be remembered forever by his comrades-in-arms! And he is the one who will be revered in stories and legends!»
Residents of the Zdolbuniv community met the fallen Hero on their knees. Farewell to Oleksandr took place on March 29 in the village of Hilcha Druha, Rivne region.
For personal courage and selfless actions shown in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the military oath, Oleksandr was awarded the Order «For Courage» of the III degree (posthumously).
