Forever 21… Football player Oleksandr Kushnir died in the war with the Russian invaders.
He was born on February 4, 2002 in the village of Nedoharky, Poltava region. He graduated from a local school, entered the Khorol Agricultural College of Poltava State Agrarian Academy and received a diploma in mechanical engineering. All this time, he actively played football, which he had loved since childhood, and was a member of a local team “Sturm”.
On November 29, 2021, he was called up for military service in the First Presidential Special Forces Brigade in Vyshhorod. As a member of the brigade, after the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, Oleksandr stood up to defend Ukraine. As one of the best soldiers, in 2023 he was sent to study in the UK. Upon his return, he continued his service in the «Bureviy» brigade in Donetsk region. But, unfortunately, on October 2, 2023, while performing a combat operation near the village of Yampil, Donetsk region, the heart of 21-year-old Ukrainian defender Oleksandr Kushnir stopped beating forever… In memory of the Hero, a mini-football tournament was held in his native village. The winners gave their trophies to Oleksandr’s mother…
