The champion of Ukraine and the champion of Europe among youth from archery Oleksandr Onishchuk died in the battles with Russian occupiers.
Oleksandr worked as an archery trainer in Berezne Complex Children and Youth’s Sports School in Rivne region, but after invasion of invaders he went to defend his homeland.
«Terrible news came from the front: our famous archer Oleksandr Onishchuk was taken away by the accursed war. Sasha was a master of sports of Ukraine, European champion, champion of Ukraine, winner of many competitions. It is true to say that war takes away the best. Rest in peace, Cossack, the memory of you will be eternal…» – it is spoken in the message of Rivne Regional Federation of Archery.
Details of the athlete’s death are not reported. It is known that Onishchuk disappeared on May 22, and according to the testimony of his colleagues, he was still alive until May 29.
His wife and three children of 5, 10 and 12 years old are left.
