While defending Ukraine from Russian invaders, handball player Oleksandr Perepelytsia was killed.
From a young age, Oleksandr was passionate about sports, particularly handball. Together with his team, he represented the Rozdilnianskyi district at various competitions, playing as a defender. If he had to defend the goal during the game, after the full-scale invasion, he defended his native Ukraine.
On the frontlines, Oleksandr was a fighter in the Azov Regiment, serving as the commander of the mortar platoon and the special forces company. Despite his youth, born in 1997, his comrades say he remained faithful to his oath, demonstrating resilience and courage until the end. Tragically, on August 28, 2023, during a combat mission near the settlement of Kreminna in Luhansk region, Oleksandr Perepelytsia lost his life.
In his memory, a Handball Cup has been established in his hometown, Rozdilne, in the Odesa region.
