Oleksandr Suknevych

On the second day of the New Year 2024, boxer Oleksandr Suknevych died defending Ukraine from Russian invaders.

He was born on July 28, 1998 in Lviv. He studied at school № 72 and practiced boxing at the Lviv Boxing School with a coach Vasyl Shan. He repeatedly won and became a prize winner of the regional championships. His passion for sports helped him choose a higher education institution. Oleksandr studied at the Ivan Bobersky Lviv State University of Physical Culture. After graduation, he served in the military, but was later discharged for health reasons.

Then he worked as a sales representative in Lviv, was fond of cars, but the war changed everything. When the full-scale Russian invasion began, Oleksandr stood up to defend Ukraine. He joined the 42nd separate mechanized brigade of the operational command “West” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He performed combat operations in the eastern direction. But, unfortunately, on January 2, 2024, the heart of the fearless defender stopped beating forever…

At home, the Hero’s parents, grandparents and two brothers were waiting for him…
