Oleksii Yanin

Athlete and “Azov” fighter Oleksii Yanin died in battles with Russian occupiers.

Yanin Oleksii (nickname “Thai”) was born in Zaporizhzhia on October 5, 1983. At the age of 9 he started boxing, and at the age of 21 he came to Thai boxing. He became the champion of Ukraine and the world in Muay Thai. He was also a multiple champion of Ukraine in kickboxing in various sections. He combined performances in amateurs and professionals. According to people close to him, he loved the spirit of competition, healthy rivalry. He was very characteristic. He loved sports, did not smoke and did not drink alcohol at all. He loved crossfit training. Always kept fit.

In 2014, when Russia occupied Crimea and started the war in Donbass, Oleksii voluntarily joined the Armed Forces. Already in September of that year he was on the front line. After serving a year, he came home for only a week and went to serve in “Azov”. He served in the regiment from October 2015 to January 2019. He went to “Azov” again in July 2020. He met the war in Mariupol. He died on the night of April 6-7, 2022, defending his homeland from Russian invasion. Details of his death are not disclosed. According to the companions in arms, everything will become known after our Victory. There is a year and a half left until the end of the contract with Azov.

His wife Tamara and son Nazariy survived Oleksii.
