Roman Holovatyuk

In defense of Ukraine from Russian occupiers, the renowned athlete, Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine Roman Holovatyuk lost his life. He would have turned 29 in September 2024, but the war claimed the life of this hero.

Driven by a deep sense of duty, Roman left his illustrious sporting career as soon as the great war reached Ukraine. In the early days of the full-scale invasion, he enlisted as a volunteer to the frontlines, where his presence was urgently needed. During the invasion, he served in the Special Operations Forces.

Roman hailed from the Khmelnytsky region, born on September 30, 1995, in the village of Krasnostavtsi, Kamianets-Podilskyi district. He was one of the best kickboxers in WAKO. He first made a name for himself at the age of 22, winning a medal at the 2017 World Games in Poland. Roman continued his remarkable sports career, becoming a Honored Master of Sports in WAKO kickboxing, a World Games finalist, a world champion, a multiple World and European Cup holder, and a multiple Ukrainian champion.
