Roman Pronyuk, a Master of Sports of Ukraine in handball, was killed while defending Ukraine in Bakhmut.
Born on February 28, 1975, in the city of Kolomyia, Ivano-Frankivsk region, Roman began playing handball at the local children’s and youth sports school. He graduated from the Ivano-Frankivsk College of Physical Education and, in 1999, successfully completed his studies at the Lviv State University of Physical Culture named after Ivan Bobersky. Roman served in the military in Lviv, within the army sports club.
Roman Pronyuk was a Master of Sports in handball. From 1995 to 2003 and again from 2005 to 2012, he played for the “SKA-Lviv” handball team, representing the club in European Cup tournaments in 1995 and 1996. In 1995, he became a silver medalist at the Ukrainian Spartakiad. From 2003 to 2005, he played for “Enerhetyk” (Netishyn).
He took up arms to defend his homeland before the full-scale invasion, having fought in the ATO zone.
