Serhii Mishchenko, a talented footballer, coach, public figure, and member of the Football Federation of the Biliaivka District in Odesa Oblast, was killed in action during the war against Russian occupiers. He gave his life for Ukraine on December 15, 2024, while carrying out a combat mission in the Donetsk region.
Born on September 15, 1976, in Odesa Oblast, Serhii joined the defense forces as a volunteer alongside his son from the first days of the full-scale invasion. After being wounded, he underwent treatment and rehabilitation, returning to the front lines to support his comrades-in-arms.
Serhii left an indelible mark on the sporting life of Odesa Oblast. As a coach, he founded the “Chaika” football team under the Kholodnobalka Village Council, which repeatedly won the championship of the Biliaivka District. He also competed in the Odesa Oblast Championship as a member of various teams.
The farewell ceremony for the fallen defender took place on December 20, 2024, in the village of Kholodna Balka.
