Former Ukrainian national football player Serhii Rozhok was killed in the war with the Russian invaders.
He was born on April 25, 1985, in Slavutych, Kyiv region. Since childhood, he started playing football and in 2000 entered the academy of «Dynamo» Kyiv. He played for the third and second teams of the club, but never made his debut in the first team. Later, he played for «Tavria» from Simferopol, «Zakarpattia», CSKA Kyiv, «Kharkiv», «Desna», «Obolon», «Kryvbas», «Chornomorets», and «Zorya» from Kropyvnytskyi.
He was repeatedly called up to the national team of different age categories. He played 13 matches for the country’s youth team, scoring two goals.
Serhii finished his professional football career in a foreign championship – in Belarus. He played for different clubs there, and in 2013 won the National Cup with FC «Minsk». And 5 years later, he ended his career as a player. But he didn’t give up playing football – he returned to his homeland and continued to play for amateur clubs. After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. But, unfortunately, on January 24, 2024, 38-year-old Serhii Rozhok died defending Ukraine from the invaders…
