Serhiy Verbovetsky

Born in Kalush, Ivano-Frankivsk region, Serhiy was devoted to sport and personal discipline. He trained in boxing and earned top positions in regional championships. A loving father of four, he remained a pillar of support and an example for his children.

In early April 2022, Serhiy took up the defense of Ukraine. Serving in a marine unit, he fought on some of the most intense sections of the front line. For his bravery, he was awarded three combat honors. In October of the same year, he underwent surgery in Kyiv due to health issues, yet he soon returned to his comrades at the front.

Worsening health eventually forced him to end his service, leaving him with a disability. The war left a profound mark on his life, and shortly after demobilization, his warrior’s heart stopped. Serhiy passed away on September 28, 2024.

The Kalush community bid farewell to Serhiy Verbovetsky on October 1, 2024. He will forever remain in the memory of his family, friends, and comrades—as a devoted father, an accomplished athlete, and a true defender of Ukraine.
