Powerlifter Vasyl Malynovskyi was among the thousands of people killed in Mariupol by Russian invaders.
He was born and lived in Mariupol. He studied part-time at the Azov State Technical University. But his life was closely connected with sports. He was actively involved in powerlifting, competing in Ukrainian and European championships. He worked as a coach at local fitness clubs.
After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, like most families in Mariupol, Vasyl and his family survived as best they could. On March 27, 2022, he and his father were cooking in the yard of their house on Morskyi Boulevard. At that time, the occupiers opened mortar fire. Vasyl Malynovskyi, who was only 37, died from multiple injuries. His father was also injured but survived.
