An amateur footballer from Bucha who died during the Russian occupation, the details of his death remain unknown.
Volodymyr Kovtun was a well-known footballer in his region. He played for FC “Zirka” Vorzel, “Kursor” Bucha, “Phoenix” Bucha, and “Fortuna Aluprof” Bucha.
He began his football career at the Irpin Children’s and Youth Sports School. Volodymyr founded and was one of the key players of FC “Zirka.” The club gained recognition for a series of successful matches and became familiar to all local football enthusiasts. Volodymyr played as an outfield player, but particularly thrived as a goalkeeper. He also frequently participated in futsal competitions, playing for veteran teams. In 2012, his FC “Zirka” gained fame in the Irpin Futsal League. The team, with Volodymyr on board, outperformed all the favorites and became the champion of the IFL.
On March 9, 2022, Volodymyr Kovtun stopped responding. Later, it was revealed that his house had been destroyed by an enemy shell. After the deoccupation of the Kyiv region, his body was found tortured and murdered.
