On November 18, the people of Zhytomyr said their farewells to military medic and athlete Volodymyr Rudyuk.
Immediately after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Volodymyr Rudyuk decided to volunteer for the war. He repeatedly visited the recruitment office and finally joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces in March.
He served as a combat medic in the 135th Brigade of Special Purpose Forces. His comrades recall that Volodymyr saved many lives, always rushing to assist the wounded with great expertise.
According to a comrade who spoke with him one of the last times, the tragedy occurred in the Bilohorivka area of Luhansk Oblast. During a Russian shelling, Volodymyr sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot.
Volodymyr had been passionate about sports and martial arts from a young age. He was a karate and aikido instructor. In 2015, he founded and led the Zhytomyr Federation of Airsoft.
