Vyacheslav Shakhov

A Kharkiv volleyball player was killed near Bakhmut. 43-year-old Vyacheslav Shakhov died from an enemy shell in the town of Krasna Hora, near Bakhmut.

A native of Kharkiv, Shakhov graduated from a sports college and was a winner and medalist of numerous city, regional, and national volleyball competitions. Recently, he played in the Kharkiv championship and was an active participant in the city’s volleyball community.

At the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Shakhov joined the Territorial Defense Forces, later serving in the special forces unit “Kraken.” He was killed on January 30 by a direct hit from an enemy shell that struck the vehicle he was using to evacuate wounded comrades from the front line.
