In Mariupol, at the age of 39, a Ukrainian athlete – former captain of the Ukrainian water polo team Yevhen Obedinskyi – died.
The water polo player was killed in the besieged city on March 17. Russian soldiers shot him. Yevhen was on the balcony of his own apartment. His father and coach Oleksandr Obedinskyi reported this information.
Yevhen was a master of water polo, a multiple champion of Ukraine as a member of the Illichivets team, captain of the national team of Ukraine.
Before the war, the athlete struggled with a brain tumor.
Later, the Rashists captured his 12-year-old daughter Kira. The girl was taken from Mariupol to Donetsk, where the DPR terrorist organization is in power.
The girl is currently safe. Kira was returned to Kyiv. In the capital, she was reunited with her grandfather.
