Boxer Yurii Vorona died in the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine near Lukashivka village, 17 km from Chernihiv.
The Chernihiv Regional Boxing Federation reported that his body was found only on April 4, after the retreat of Russian troops. Local residents buried the Ukrainian boys in their village, and when the Ukrainian troops entered there, they showed the place where the defenders were buried. Yurii Vorona was among them.
Yurii Vorona is three-time regional champion in boxing, prizewinner of international and all-Ukrainian competitions. He went to defend Chernihiv region in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
