A 14-year-old weightlifter Alina Perehudova died during the shelling in the blockaded Mariupol.
The girl left the house with her mother when the explosion rang out after which they were covered in debris. Her brother, who ran after it, was shot dead by a Russian sniper.
Alina was a pupil of the Regional Specialized Children and Youth’s Sports School of the Olympic Reserve in Weightlifting and the Donetsk Regional Specialized College of Sports Profile.
At the age of 14, the girl was a member of the candidate athletes of the national team of Ukraine, and in 2021 at the national championship among girls U17 she won gold awards and aspired to win at the highest level competitions in the future.
