He died defending his homeland against the occupiers. Kuzia, as his family and friends called him, was a true Ukrainian and a strong athlete whose life was cut short by the war.
Sport held a special place in Dmytro Kuzmynskyi’s life. He played American football at a high level and was one of the leaders of the Spartans team from Dnipro. Dmytro gave his all on the field in pursuit of victory. He supported and encouraged his teammates, inspiring them with his determination and energy.
On 15 March 2023, Dmytro took up arms to defend Ukraine. He served as a communications specialist, carrying out missions in some of the most difficult and dangerous areas.
At one point, he had an opportunity to transfer to a safer position, but he chose to remain where the conditions were hardest and where he was most needed. Dmytro became a drone operator and continued carrying out combat missions directly in the area of hostilities.
On 15 July 2025, Dmytro Kuzmynskyi was killed while carrying out a combat mission in the Kupiansk district of Kharkiv region. He was 32 years old.
Dmytro remains in the memories of his friends, fellow soldiers, family, and loved ones as an athlete, a team leader, a person who supported others, and a warrior who remained faithful to his duty and to Ukraine to the very end.
