Ukrainian weightlifter Igor Doroshenko has died on the front lines.
The soldier was a silver medalist at the European Championships, a bronze medalist at the Junior World Championships, a World Cup winner, and a multiple-time champion and record holder of Ukraine.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he served as a machine gunner in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
While carrying out a combat mission near Avdiivka, he came under artillery fire and was severely wounded. He was evacuated to a hospital in Dnipro, but despite all efforts, the soldier could not be saved.
The fallen defender leaves behind a wife and a son.
