On March 24, 2023, in Donetsk region, soldier Mikhail Oprysk of the Ukrainian Armed Forces died while fighting against Russian occupiers.
At just 16, he participated in the Orange Revolution. He was also actively involved in the Revolution of Dignity. When the full-scale war broke out, he did not stay at home but immediately volunteered for territorial defense. Later, he joined the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade. Though he had never served in the army before, his physical and mental preparation through sports made him well-suited for military service.
Mikhail was a candidate for Master of Sports in Ukraine in table tennis and a member of the men’s team in Ukraine’s Premier League, “Patriot” (Mykolaiv). He also contributed to the revival of the Mykolaiv football club through his playing. Additionally, he helped train young athletes at the children’s sports school.
He was 35 years old. He leaves behind a wife and a young daughter.
