Pavlo Ishchenko

Ukraine has lost one of its titans — a man whose strength of spirit and body became legendary. While carrying out a combat mission on the front line, Pavlo Ishchenko was killed in action — a four-time Ukrainian champion in strongman, a record holder, and, above all, a man of immense strength.

His name was well known in sporting circles at home and abroad. A native of Hostomel in the Kyiv region, Pavlo rose from a young athlete to a legend of Ukrainian sport. His career began in powerlifting, where Ishchenko earned world and European championship titles and repeatedly became the best in Ukraine.

Strongman later became his true calling, a discipline in which he swiftly reached the pinnacle. After the outbreak of the full-scale war, Pavlo stood up to defend Ukraine, yet he did not abandon sport — and for four consecutive years, from 2022 to 2025, he consistently claimed the title of Ukraine’s Strongest Man.

His death is a profound loss not only for the sporting community but for all of Ukraine. Pavlo Ishchenko was — and will remain — a symbol of the unbreakable strength of the Ukrainian spirit.

At the end of 2025, the Ukrainian Strongman Championship among veterans took place. One of the most emotional moments was the 18-inch deadlift event. The competition was dedicated to the memory of Pavlo Ishchenko — a legendary strongman and warrior.

Eternal memory.
