A Russian sniper killed multiple-time Ukrainian tourism champion Victor Borzhievskyi. The 36-year-old Ukrainian defender died on March 17 in the Luhansk region.
Before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Victor Borzhievskyi was not a military man. He was a graduate of the Kamianets-Podilskyi Youth Tourist Station and competed successfully as part of the city team. Victor regularly participated in tournaments and nationwide competitions, winning the title of Ukrainian champion five times.
He was also a member of the main judging panel for regional championships for school and student youth and held a Category II judge qualification.
Victor volunteered to fight at the front in the early days of the full-scale invasion. He served as a gunner in a motorized infantry company. The man heroically defended Severodonetsk and Lysychansk. Borzhievskyi was injured several times but kept returning to the battlefield to defend our land.
On March 17, a Russian sniper shot Victor Borzhievskyi. He was still alive, though severely wounded. His comrades tried to save him, but the enemy bullet caught up with them—all of them perished. The sniper then shot Victor again, delivering a fatal blow.
The Ukrainian defender left behind a beloved girlfriend, with whom he had dreamed of marrying after victory.
