He dreamed of returning from the front and skiing again. An athlete from Zakarpattia, Vasyl Zubrytskyi, was killed in the battles with the Russian occupiers.
He was born on 25 December 1995 in the village of Kamianytsia, Zakarpattia region. He was involved in skiing sports tourism and represented his region, as a member of the local team, at competitions. After graduating from school, he entered the Uzhhorod College of Trade and Food Technology. In 2019, he started working for the Security Service in his hometown.
When the full-scale Russian invasion began, in March 2022 Vasyl did not hesitate and voluntarily stood up to defend Ukraine. He joined the territorial defence forces of Zakarpattia region, and in February 2023, he was transferred to the 67th Separate Mechanised Brigade, where he was a rifleman. He served in the hottest spots of the frontline, holding back the Russian occupiers in Donbas. On 12 March 2023, Vasyl Zubrytskyi died near the village of Plyushchanka in Luhansk region.
