He was born in Ternopil — a city he deeply loved and to which he always returned. He studied at his native School No. 5, where he is remembered as a cheerful, open-hearted, and fair-minded young man.
From 2016, Anton was actively engaged in jiu-jitsu. As a student of Bohdan Miroshnychenko, he repeatedly claimed victories in jiu-jitsu championships between 2016 and 2018. In addition to his national achievements, he also became the Hungarian champion in 2017.
For a year, he studied in Lviv at the Ivan Franko National University, after which he returned to Ternopil and continued his education at the West Ukrainian National University, majoring in Management. In 2020, he earned his bachelor’s degree and went on to pursue a master’s program, which he successfully completed in 2022.
Anton was constantly searching for his path, dreaming of building his own business, and working across various fields, the last of which was logistics. His zest for life and sincerity accompanied him at every step. With the outbreak of the full-scale war, he became a volunteer, delivering aid to the eastern regions of Ukraine.
Soon after, Anton joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. From 2024, he served as a soldier in the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, fighting as part of an anti-aircraft missile battery. His brothers-in-arms remember him as a devoted comrade and a courageous warrior.
His final battle took place on May 17, 2025. Soldier Anton Ilchuk gave his life for Ukraine in the Luhansk region, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Novoyehorivka in the Svatove district.
The Hero was laid to rest on May 21, 2025, at the Pantheon of Heroes in Ternopil, at the Mykulynetske Cemetery.
Anton Ilchuk’s example endures as a testament to a youth seared by war and to the courage of a warrior born of love—for his family, his friends, his native Ternopil, and Ukraine.
